Interrupted aortic arch is defined as a loss of luminal continuity between the ascending and descending portions of the aorta. Bovine aortic arch is the most common variant of aortic arch and occurs when the brachiocephalic shares a common origin with the left common carotid artery. The rarity in our case lies in the co-existence of these rare congenital cardiac anomalies with a delayed age of presentation i.e. 27 years which was diagnosed entirely by MDCT and Echocardiography and to the best of our knowledge this co-existence has not been reported so far.

Interrupted Aortic Arch Associated with AP Window and Complex Cardiac Anomalies: Multi Detector Computed Tomography Findings.
Interrupted aortic arch is a rare congenital malformation of the aortic arch defined as a loss of luminal continuity between the ascending and descending portions of the aorta. In a simple interrupted aortic arch, only a ventricular septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus are observed. We present a rare complex form of type A interrupted aorta with an aortopulmonary window, an atrial septal ...

Congenital thoracic arterial anomalies can be incidentally detected in adults from imaging studies performed for other indications. Multidetector computed tomography plays a critical role in the noninvasive assessment of these anomalies and associated cardiac, mediastinal, or parencyhmal changes by providing volumetric data. Radiologists should be familiar with imaging findings ...

Most reported cases of aortopulmonary fenestration are discrete openings between the main pulmonary artery and the aorta, distal to the outflow valves, and thus are amenable to surgical correction using cardiopulmonary bypass (Bosher and McCue, I962; Deverall et al., I969; Gross, I952; Gasul, Fell, and Casas, I951; Hurwitz, Ruttenberg, and Fonkalsrud, I967; Kalter et al., 1970; Meisner et al., ...

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is an open communication between the upper descending thoracic aorta and the proximal left pulmonary artery, which results from persistence of the fetal ductus arteriosus. It may be isolated or occur with other congenital cardiac anomalies. Aneurysms of the ductus arteriosus are rare lesions which may occur as a spontaneous. infantile fonn or occur in later c...
